I Am Thankful

I’m thankful for the children who wake me up at night, it means they are safe and well.

I’m thankful for the piles of laundry waiting to be done, it means I’m blessed to live with the people I love.

I’m thankful for a marriage that isn’t picture-perfect, it means we’re learning how to truly love, accept, and forgive each other.

I’m thankful for the traffic I get stuck in, it means I own a car and don’t have to walk.

I’m thankful for the assignments weighing on my mind, it means I’m privileged to receive an education.

I’m thankful for the mess left behind after celebrations, it means my home is filled with laughter and community.

I’m thankful for my sore feet at the end of the day, it means I have the strength to walk, run, and jump.

I’m thankful for the bags under my weary eyes, it means I have the gift of vision to see my own reflection.

I’m thankful for those who have hurt me, it teaches me the power of forgiveness and letting go.

I’m thankful for the late-night phone calls, it means I get to be a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on.

I’m thankful for the sermons I need to write, it means I’m honoured to share God’s word.

I’m thankful for my church, a place where imperfect people seek a perfect God.

I’m thankful for my weaknesses, they draw me closer to Jesus.

And I’m thankful I’m a sinner, because it reveals the beauty of God’s grace in calling me a saint.

Gratitude is all about perspective.

P.S. Don’t just give thanks on Thanksgiving. Cultivate an attitude of gratitude every day. We all have so much to be thankful for.
